John W. Olver Transit Center
Greenfield, MA
Architect: Charles Rose Architects

The 24,000 sf Franklin Regional Transit Center, a Zero Net Energy building, not only functions as an inter model transit facility and central office, but as an important element in the Town of Greenfield's urban revitalization strategy. The building includes a passenger waiting area, a community meeting room, and offices for the regional transit authority. To ensure zero net energy the building incorporates super insulation and low-transmission glazing along with passive solar technology. The second floor plan area is greater than the first floor and must be cantilevered on three sides.
