Walden Pond Bath House
Concord, MA
Architect: Maryann Thompson Architects

Structural Engineering for a brand-new universally accessible bathhouse at Walden Pond State Reservation. It replaced the original 1947 building with a single-story, net-zero facility that includes modern changing areas, family restrooms, and a first aid station. The design ensures the Main Beach and facilities are easily navigable for visitors of all ability levels. Upgrades include significant landscaping improvements to protect the pond from erosion, featuring hundreds of new native plants and trees. There is also a green roof with solar installations, and wood for the project harvested on the local site. Construction cost is $6.1M.
